Odyssey
BETT 2006 Award Nominee - Highly Commended by the Judges.

Version 2.2 Available Now for MAC and PC - Learn Structure with the new intuitive molecule building feature

" From past BETT Award Winners Fable, comes Odyssey which delivers animated chemical models like no others. In 80 topics you see 3D molecules colliding and vibrating to explain lone pairs, Boyle's law, Ion solvation and hydrogen bonds. . . . These models are compelling: every movement is calculated and rendered on screen. It's mind-blowing cutting edge stuff and helps justify having computers on this planet "

"I use Odyssey on a regular basis to bring up structures on the whiteboard for my pupils. This is faster than using modeling kits. The fact that in many cases the model can been shown in a number of different forms, e.g. space filling, ball and stick, etc., as well as the function to show the structure as a solid, liquid, or gas, and how the structure is moving, really brings the kinetic model of matter alive. There is so much that Odyssey can do, that two to three sentences do not do it justice. I thoroughly recommend Odyssey Matter in Motion."
Mike Summers, Head of Science and Chemistry, Ashford School
What is Odyssey?
Odyssey is a brand new software tool for teaching Chemistry which offers an exciting new way to visualise the molecular world. It raises 3d molecular modelling to a new standard by displaying 3D samples of matter where molecules vibrate, spin and collide in stunning chaotic motion. These are not the usual animation loops, the models can be explored by varying parameters, and distributions and plots can be created. Odyssey covers a broad range of topics through 80 easy-to-use interactive tutorials. Tutorials are supplemented with printable worksheets making Odyssey suitable for whole class teaching and independent learning. There is a new intuitive tool for building 3D molecules - this is a great way to learn structure.
